ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the effects and significances of lipopolysaccharide preconditioning on the activities of NF-?B and the expression of ICAM-1/LFA-1 in rats graft liver ischemia/reperfusion injury. Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups: sham operation group(Sham group),orthotopic liver transplantation group (OLT group) and LPS preconditioning group (LPS group). Only dissecting hepatoduodenal ligament was perfomed in Sham group. Experiments of OLT were performed by two-cuff method in OLT group and LPS group. The activities of NF-?B and the expression of ICAM-1/LFA-1 in hepatic tissue ,the levels of ALT,AST in inferior caval vein blood were detected at 0,60,180 min after dissecting of hepatoduodenal ligament in Sham group and after portal vein reperfusion in OLT group and LPS group. Results: Compared with those in Sham group at the different time points respectively,the activities of NF-?B and the expression of ICAM-1/LFA-1 were higher in OLT group and LPS group(P0.05) at 0 min after reperfusion,they were evidently higher in OLT group than in LPS group (P

ABSTRACT

Hyperprotein chow can increase perfusion and filtration of glomerulus,and so result in kidney hypertrophy and damage.Monocytes and macrophages are considered to be a characteristic of diabetic nephropathy(DN),and play a key role in the glomerular sclerotic lesions.At present,hyperprotein chow,infiltration of monocytes and macrophages and overproduction of intercellular adhension molecule-1(ICAM-1) are thought to be involved in the progression of DN.Hyperprotein chow resulting in hyperfiltration may be one of potential mechanisms of ICAM-1 upregulation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the influence of military exercise on some biochemical indexes in soldiers.Methods The level of serum soluble tumor necrosis factor receptor-1(sTNFR-1)and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1)were determined with ELISA in peripheral blood of 133 servicemen who participated in the excercise before and after the military exercise.At the same time,the levels of serum gastrin and tetosterone were determined by radioimmunassay(RIA),the level of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malonyl dialdehyde(MDA)were determined by biochemical methods.The correlation between the changes in these contents and psychological stress was studied.Results The levels of serum sTNFR-1,sICAM-1,testosterone and MDA of 133 servicemen increased after the military exercise compared with that of before the exercise(P0.05).Conclusion As a strong stress,military exercise can inhibit the immunological function and produce changes in emotional state,gastroenterological hormones,sex hormones etc.It is necessary to carry out mental and physiological training,so that the ability of servicemen to withstand the military stress can be improved.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects of GSTT on expression of inflammatory molecule ICAM-1 and the infiltration of neutrophils in rats after myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MI/R) injury. Methods A model of myocardial ischemia 45min followed by 2h reperfusion was made by reversibly ligating coronary left descending artery. 32 Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were divided randomly to 4 groups, ie: sham-operated group, model group, large and dosage of GSTT. HE staining was used to observe infiltrating neutophils. The activity of MPO was measured, too. Immunohistochemistry was used to determine ICAM-1 expression in myocardium. Results Light microscopy showed that the infiltration of neutrophils in both large and low dosage of GSTT group was less serious than that in model group. ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the hyperglycemic effect on ultrastructural morphology and intercellular adhension molecule 1(ICAM 1) expression of BBB. Methods Hyperglycemia model was established by intravenous injection of streptozocin in SD rats. A dynamic observation on the changes of the ultrastructure and the ICAM 1 expression on endothelium of BBB in SD rats with hyperglycemia for 3 days to 8 months was carried out by transmission electron microscopy and immunohistochemical method. Results Swelling was slight in endothelium of BBB of rats with hyperglycemia for 3 days, became obvious and occurred in endfoot of astrocyte for 1 to 2 months, and some microthrombi appeared in cavity of capillary with various malformation and apoptosis was found in endothelium of BBB and neuron surrounding abnormal capillary for 3 to 8 months. With immunohistochemical study, ICAM 1 was expressed sparsely on endothelium of BBB in 3 days after injection of streptozocin, became markedly strong in 3 months, and progressed further in 6 to 8 months. There was no changes on BBB in both SD rats and negative controls. Conclusion Long term hyperglycemia could cause obvious ultrastructural changes of BBB, associated with ICAM 1 expression on endothelium of BBB induced by hyperglycemia
